The weather is beginning to improve and the days are getting long. It only means one thing, Silage Season is nearly here. Here are some simple baling tips for making high quality bales this year.



  • Use good quality wrap for create more dense bales. This will allow less oxygen to be trapped inside.


  • Apply at least 6 layers.


  • Move bales as soon as you can once they’ve been wrapped.


  • Stack bales on their side on a flat surface away from any water and sharp edges. Never stack bales more than 3 bales high.


  • Protect bales from rodents and birds. Try and inspect them regularly to insure no damage has been done.


  • If you come across any damages or holes, repair immediately.


  • Always keep bales out of the reach of children to avoid serious injury or fatalities.
